I think this matchup is incredibly tough for FD. They are forced to advance but Selundar has so many tools to get to Kuldak.

Great comment, massimo!
To add a couple cents to the point about Fungal Dwarves needing to play more forward: what you want, ideally, is to be able to converge on single targets. When your opponent is able to recall damaged units to hand, or a damaged starting gate with Into Darkness, you have to make every attack count (this is also true of attacking Fungal Dwarves, but for basically the opposite reason). This is also especially advantageous for Fungal Dwarves because Infect means they can outright steal the spaces that most factions would have only cleared out. However, make sure you're being responsible about where you place Kuldak along the way, because leaving him inside of even one weak lane could compromise him. One more thing to note is that Release Spores might not be quite as handy of a defense if Samara is closing in . . .
Now a few tips for Shadow Elves: be careful about pinging units with Shadow Pulse if you're not actually going to kill them, because you could just be giving your opponent a better Symbiotic Healing turn and give them free boosts. Also be wary of leaving too many Shadow Knights hanging out too early; Fungal Dwarves can hit plenty hard enough to take them down in one turn. Even if you aren't exposing Selundar to brutal Demand turns, every ping he takes in these early stages will make it that much harder for him to follow through on an assassination attempt later on.
Overall this is a tense matchup between two of the highest-ceiling factions in the game. Few others are this good at generating leverage consistently over a dozen + turns, while also being able to punsh opponents so severely for making one mistake.

Interesting matchup!
Key unit for Shadow Elves is the Shadow Mage for sure. With its 4 health and the ability to generate boost it is hard to deal with for Fungal Dwarves. It is quite important to keep its full health and not use the ability to damage itself.
When it gets damaged you can use its remaining health to generate more boost and then return it back to hand with "Return to Shadows".
True Seeker although having only 3 life and potentially killable by a single Fungal Beast, can feint after its attack and make it hard for Fungal Dwarves to maintain their formation.
They also allow Selundar to get into the action and then be covered by a True Seeker.
Into Darkness is a great tool to deal with Fungal Beast, especially early on Selundar can severly slow down Fungal Dwarves economy and even rush them.
Glinting Speed is a versatile event card and can be used for a lot of things.
Foremost it allows Selundar to use his big attack and get back to safety. With its help you can get multiple shots from one direction. 5 attack is not joke I have seen many games where Kuldak with its 13 health gets assassinated.
Shadow Elves have a fantastic endgame, can deny magic and resummon their units and simply outlast their opponent. Shadow Knights are especially useful in the endgame and provide great value.
Fungal Dwarves have to be more pro-active in this matchup. Hanging back and farming doesn't work all that well against Shadow Elves.
They need to establish a more forward position, preferably supported by forward gates and apply constant pressure.
Demand is a major threat to Selundar, a great Demand turn can easily put Selundar in a critical state and he has to play way more careful from this point.
Another Event card which makes Fungal Dwarves more dangerous is Stimshrooms. Being a slow moving and mostly predictable faction, this event can threaten Selundar and key units on the board. As the Shadow Elves player, you need to have these events always in the back of your mind.
In my opinion, Shadow Elves is slightly favored in this matchup. But it requires a lot of skill to pilot them well. Of course Fungal Dwarves are not easy to handle either :-)
