Hi! My name is Ryan Scibetta, aka Ciabatta. I am a recent statistics graduate from California, who moved to the United States capital to work in civil service. I currently work for the US Census Bureau, putting my degree to use keeping our nation's economic data accurate and current. I live in a little apartment with my girlfriend and our two amazing cats.

I first started playing Summoner Wars in 2010, when my childhood best friend introduced me to the game. It quickly became my favorite past-time, and I practiced whenever I could (which, as a bored middle-school student, was a lot!) For a long time, the PlaidHatGames forums were my only social media. I started playing Second Edition in 2021, when I learned the game existed. I joined the discord and the league soon after. I’ve played over 1000 Summoner Wars games in the past three-plus years. I also organize tournaments, write articles, and contribute to the official Discord server. My time with the game fluctuates based on my schedule, but my time with the community is far more highly valued.

My favorite faction is the Polar Dwarves. I love their chain summons, their sliding block puzzles, and their synergies. Svara gameplay feels like a natural extension of my creativity. In Deckbuilding, I like the Savanna Elves and their one-turn-kill Chant of Power combos. In base game, my favorite card is the Ice Golem. The backbone of the Polar Dwarves, they open up so many options and give Svara so much flexibility. In deckbuilding, my favorite card is the Eager Adventurer. Their Chant of Power range extension is my single favorite combo in this game. Lore-wise, my favorite card is Miti Mumway (“Miti Tree”). He has sentimental value to me from playing Mafia on the 1E forums.

I would incorporate a way to upload and play custom factions on the Summoner Wars app. There are some amazing community-designed decks, and I wish I could play with them in the app. I would also implement an option in private games to allow spectators to see players’ hands. It would make for a much more interesting viewing experience.

I enjoy lots of different games, whether they be sports, board games, video games, or something else entirely. The game that I spend the most time on is basketball, my primary means of staying in shape. The game other than Summoner Wars that I'm best at is Monaco: What’s Yours Is Mine, a indie heist video game. I also play floor hockey, sport climbing, Smash Bros, chess, go, and whatever other hobbies I stumble into.
