Although the Vanguard will normally lose this match-up it is still a fun one. I agree with Lvl3cpu in that this match up feels so close to being an even match up. I like to play economically with both sides. Deceivers and wind mages holding the line with Tac supporting and tanking in the center. Knights and champs supporting Sera in the center. Both sides can be aggressive. Sera renewed hoping forward formations while Tac manipulates the board to get archers and mimics into striking position.

I hope this helps. This is in all honesty a fun matchup that is just so close to a fair matchup. Vanguard will struggle to win either the economic or aggressive style of game, but both are situations you can find yourself in. I think the tricky part is deciding which you’re angling for and committing to it as early as possible, very aware that it may blow up in your face. For Vanguard, Regardless of how you’re trying to play, you have to get Sera up and engaged. Her ability will give you the economy advantage, and renewed hope is a surprisingly efficient assassination tool. Regardless I wanna take a second to talk about renewed hope, this event is awesome and you need to be better utilizing it(no not you Snalg, obviously not you). Never summon until you have to, move Sera in the move phase like she’s a military shuttle preparing to air drop citadel units in every tactical location on the board or surround the enemy summoner out of nowhere. Because you can summon during move phase you can move Sera summon and then move the unit(s) you summon, this gives surprising reach to a rather reserved movement faction. It also more importantly let’s you dump an army of units on the board in one turn all over the place. Do some early turns of pitching cards for magic so you can drop 4 + common units in one turn. This number density is too many for Tac to clear with her decks strength values, and all you need to do after is replenish supply. So I’d suggested getting Sera in, and keeping her just long enough before you get combo’d to death. For Breakers, Combo Sera to death. Im not positive the way I play this matchup is right, but it is fun. First let’s talk health, Tac has 13 of it making her essentially a tank. In the early game that means you should feel free to get her in there. Apart from renewed hope/holy judgment Sera has no burst, keep Tac only open from one or two fronts and you’ll have plenty of life to retreat, but will you want to? If Sera commits on you, she’s likely left herself open and given you free mind control targets! I think you should take every opportunity to do chip damage to Sera. She’s going to want to use her ability, and you should be punishing her for it. After that though it’s hard to explain exactly what you should look for, as Tac has so many fun and unique tools. Use wind mages to set up push chains and get extra attacks on Sera. Use mind control and blast to send a paladin at Sera’s face. Use Gulldune. Use hypnotic call to mis-position pesky citadel knights. There are players who play an amazing value Taculla, and I’m currently not one of them so I don’t want to speak on that, but I do know that holding a solid archer wall with obnoxious deceivers everywhere reducing knights to 0 damage constantly is very effective in this matchup as well. But with Tac’s tools there’s no reason to give up the middle and Sera’s functionality/advantage breaks down if she can’t be with her forces. But I really think this is an awesome matchup! And one that Sera can win. You can’t play against everything Tac could have, so in order to simplify heres my mental checklist: Can I be mind controlled and die? Can I be hypnotic called, then mind controlled and die? Are they able to blast an archer behind me easily? If I do get mind controlled, how many fronts can I be hit from? Oh. And don’t forget. How many attacks can he get with wind mage?!? https://summonerwars.plaidhatgames.com/#!/s8ul5LJUyfm
