Currently working as a city DHHS accountant. As far as hobbies go, I primarily consider myself a classic literature nerd (favorites include Shakespeare, Dostoevsky, William Faulkner, Virginia Woolf, Henry James, and James Joyce), but board games have been my biggest hobby outside of that since high school.
My Summoner Wars (Hi)Story
I had heard of Summoner Wars several years ago, but didn't jump on it since I mostly play board games with two other players. However, between the glowing Shut Up & Sit Down review and the existence of an online implementation, I was excited to get into Summoner Wars with the new edition.
Favourite faction and favourite card
Favorite faction at the moment is the Skyspear Avians - their combination of attributes feels unique, they can switch between aggro and zoning very quickly, and no other faction currently matches their sheer gracefulness in my opinion. My favorite card would have to be Horde Slinger, because those extra attacks can completely change how the Attack Phase goes.
What would I change about Summoner Wars
No champ ever needed to cost 8 - every extra point of magic after 5 is progressively much harder to build to.
Games beside Summoner Wars
Gloomhaven is my all-time favorite board game, but Frosthaven is shaping up to surpass it. I also play a lot of Dominion and Dungeon Lords with my friends and wish there were more official Tragedy Looper scripts. I've wanted to get more into TTRPG's for a while, and I've followed the Chronicles of Darkness games (Vampire: the Requiem, Werewolf: the Forsaken, etc) for several years, but I've yet to really get into playing. As for video games, I'm currently making my way through Fire Emblem: Three Houses, finally. Other recent ones are Darkest Dungeon, Slay the Spire, and Disco Elysium.
